RENDEZVOUS 2025 – THAT’S A WRAP!

Once again, members, family, and friends flocked to the Rendezvous for four unforgettable days of fun, with new friendships formed and old ones rekindled, the event was a joyful celebration of community while also raising awareness and vital funds for prostate cancer research. A Heartfelt Thank You To our generous sponsors, donors, and members—thank you. Your contributions, whether through auction and raffle prizes or cash donations, made this event possible. We couldn’t do it without you.

A Note on Leadership – sadly our illustrious founder and leader, Ken Thackeray VC Raby Bay, was unable to participate in most of the Rendezvous due to illness. Stepping up were fellow board members Paul Dwyer VC Airlie Beach, Rhonda Thackeray VC Caves Cove (and SICYC co-founder), and Owen Scowns VC Picnic Bay Magnetic Island. Their leadership ensured the event ran smoothly.

Shag Islet Party

A classic afternoon of kite flying, games, and the beloved Shaggers cake this island tradition never fails to delight.

Blanc-Sur-Blanc
100 Shaggers dressed in white and perfect weather to match; this elegant affair was a standout. Local Saxophone player Anne Bavin kept the guests entertained for 3 hours with her fabulous array of music. The water taxi kept things flowing, ferrying members to and fro with ease.

Beach Barber Brilliance.
Tiana, was in full swing from Thursday morning, shaving beards, chests, and cutting hair—all in support of prostate cancer.

She raised an incredible $3,047, with an additional $2,000 donated by her friend
Trevor Penny. Special shoutout to Ethan Squires, who bravely shaved his beard and raised a further $1,200. What a phenomenal effort!

Pirate Party Shenanigans

Another fabulous afternoon filled with swashbuckling style and playful antics.

“Walk the Plank” was a highlight, with several members raising bounty for their pirate misdeeds.
